The sister of a woman raped and beaten to death two years ago says her killer’s courtroom apology helped “a little bit.”
Christopher Watcheston says he still doesn’t know why he killed Arcelie Laoagan and that he knows his crime was horrific.
Marlyn Hori says she hopes her sister Arcelie is remembered most for being a good mother and not how she died.
But Arcelie’s brother Oswald Sombrito didn’t want to comment on the apology from his sister’s killer.
He says he doesn’t want to give Watcheston any credit for his words.
Watcheston was convicted of first degree murder Tuesday. He will have to provide a DNA sample and won’t be eligible for parole from his life sentence for 25 years.
