Mixed feelings are likely as Albertans wait for a royalty review expected this week.
Mount Royal University Political Scientist Lori Williams says the results will likely have similar effects to that of the carbon tax hikes announced back in November.
“I think the same thing will happen here, there will be some people who say they like the results and they can plan accordingly, others who don’t and will maybe want to move their investments elsewhere,” explained Williams.
She says one positive from the process is that the government showed they were willing to listen to concerns in the industry by delaying any royalty changes until at least 2017 to try and calm jitters.
