CALGARY (660 NEWS) — He’ll have a significant task as he grabs the leadership reins at Mount Royal University.
Dr. Tim Rahilly will become the institution’s tenth president and first vice-chancellor on May 1, and even before he takes over, he has a message to potential students.
“Mount Royal is an important institution and one that is very student-centred, and I think that anyone seeking to go to university should give that a real consideration,” he said.
Although there are many post-secondary institutions in Calgary, he said MRU holds its own.
“I think there’s a niche there, and I think that the university can really play an important role in being a bit of the educational, heart of the city,” he said.
Rahilly said he will start his leadership role by meeting everyone on campus and as many people as he can in the general Calgary community.
