LETHBRIDGE (660 NEWS) – Lethbridge police have charged a man in connection with a case of sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman.
On Friday night, the woman and a friend were at a Lethbridge bar when she suddenly felt ill.
A man who the two had met earlier in the night then offered her a drive home, which she accepted.
After taking her inside, he left for a time. He then returned later, entered the home, and sexually assaulted her.
Saturday morning, police responded to the report of sexual assault and the victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Following further investigation, police identified a male and executed a search of the man’s home where evidence, including the victim’s cell phone, was located.
The 33-year-old man is now facing charged including housebreaking and two counts of sexual assault.
He has been released from custody on the conditions that he is to have no contact with the victim or witness, to stay at least 200 metres away from either woman’s homes and is not allowed in any licensed premises where the primary business is the sale of alcohol.
