One hurt after truck crashes into southeast Calgary home

One person is in life threatening condition after a truck smashed into a home in Calgary’s southeast neighbourhood of Ogden, destroying the living room.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday morning at 76 Avenue SE near 20A Street SE.

The driver, who was the only person inside the truck, is seriously hurt, however, Sgt. Brad Norman with Calgary Police said the incident “could have been a lot worse.”

“We’re very lucky, thank goodness there was no one sitting or on that main level of the house,” Norman said.

Four adults and two babies were inside the home at the time, asleep on the second floor, they were not injured.

Multiple roads in the area around the home were closed for several hours as police investigated.

Police add speed, drugs, and/or alcohol are being considered as possible factors in the crash.
