Calgary police identify alleged suspect in show home sex assault

Calgary Police Service (CPS) says it has identified a suspect in connection with an alleged sexual assault in a show home in the southwest community of Alpine Park.

Police say the suspect entered a show home on Alpine Avenue SW pretending to be a homebuyer on Tuesday around 7 p.m.

Officers say the man confined the woman who was showing him around to a room and touched her without her approval. When she threatened to call 911, he reportedly fled in a dark-coloured SUV.

Police are describing the vehicle as similar to an older model Toyota RAV4.

The suspect is described as a middle-aged man, approximately six-foot tall to six-foot-two, with a heavy build and a thick brown and grey beard. At the time of the alleged incident, he was wearing a grey jacket or hoodie, blue pants and a black toque.

CPS says no charges have been laid, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234, or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
