The school trustee who compared the LGBTQS+ community to Nazis is being shown the door, after she violated sanctions placed on her when she posted a controversial meme.
Monique LaGrange is no longer involved with the Red Deer Catholic School Board after being disqualified from her position and resigning.
The board is making the announcement in a release, saying LaGrange violated sanctions given to her back in September, and is no longer with the school division.
There has been months of controversy for the now former trustee after she shared a photo online in August, which had cheerful kids holding Nazi flags with swastikas during World War II, while the photo below it, showed kids holding rainbow pride flags.
The caption read, “Brainwashing is brainwashing.”
After months of discussions and meetings, LaGrange was ordered to apologize and take sensitivity training.
But, her lawyer said that wouldn’t be happening.
LaGrange has stood by her post, saying the pride flag is being used to silence people like herself.
The school board hasn’t released what sanctions LaGrange has broken since September, but it plans on providing all of the details later in the month.
CityNews has reached out to LaGrange’s lawyer for more details.
