A woman has life-altering injuries after being struck by a vehicle in southeast Calgary on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Fairmount Drive and Flint Road SE around 2:45 p.m. for reports of a crash.

Calgary police say a woman in her 20s was walking with her dog in a crosswalk when she was struck by a 2015 Toyota RAV 4 that was travelling northbound on Fairmount Drive.

She was rushed to hospital with serious life-altering injuries. Her dog was hurt but was able to run home, according to police.
