Man on mobility scooter dies after being struck by vehicle in SE Calgary

Police say a man has died in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in southeast Calgary over the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to the parking lot of Midnapore Mall around 3:30 p.m. Saturday for reports of a crash.

Police say a 2004 Honda CR-V was heading eastbound in the parking lot when it struck a man in his 50s who was riding a mobility scooter.

The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

The driver of the Honda, a man in his 20s, stayed at the scene and wasn’t injured.

Investigators do not believe speed or impairment played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
