Calgary police say the death of a man who stopped to help a vehicle stuck along Crowchild Trail Wednesday night was a tragic accident.
Investigators say a man in his 40s driving a 2014 Toyota Prius with a young child in the vehicle pulled over around 8 p.m. to lend a hand to a broken down vehicle.
As the man got out of his vehicle to help, the Toyota started to roll backwards. He tried to stop it and got pinned underneath the vehicle.
Several witnesses tried to save the man but were unsuccessful.
The child wasn’t injured.
The road was closed for several hours.
An investigation into the matter continues.
