A pedestrian is dead after being hit by two vehicles in Calgary’s southwest Wednesday night.

Police were called to 61 Avenue and Elbow Drive SW around 7 p.m. for reports of a crash.

Investigators say a man in his 50s was walking westbound at the intersection in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a 2024 Ford Escape that was driving southbound on Elbow Drive SW.

The driver of the Ford Escape, a woman in her 80s, pulled over to help the pedestrian.

At the same time, another vehicle driving south on Elbow Drive, a 2009 Pontiac Vibe driven by a woman in her 70s, hit the pedestrian.

The man died at the scene.

Investigators say the driver of both of the vehicles stayed at the scene.

Speed and impairment aren’t considered factors in the incident.

Roads in the area were closed for some time to allow for an investigation.

Anyone with dashcam footage of the area at the time of the crash is asked to contact police.
