Police say a man found dead on a sidewalk in downtown Calgary over the weekend was likely the victim of a fatal attack and robbery.
Emergency crews were called 5 Street SW, just south of 7 Avenue, around 5:20 a.m. Sunday for reports of a man lying unconscious on the sidewalk.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an autopsy on Tuesday, the victim has been identified as 34-year-old Calgary resident Samuel Mulugeta and investigators say his death was the result of an attack.
It is alleged Mulugeta was walking along the 3 Street SW CTrain platform around 4:20 a.m. when he crossed paths with a group of people. Police say the victim became injured while being robbed by the group.
It is believed he walked several blocks before he died from his injuries on the sidewalk where he was found.

Investigators are calling it a targeted attack and believe Mulugeta and the suspects knew each other.
Photos of three suspects have been released:
- Suspect #1 is described as a woman with a medium build and light-coloured hair shaved on the sides. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, light-coloured boots and a backpack
Suspect #2 is described as a man last seen wearing a dark-coloured jacket, black pants, black shoes and was carrying a bag
Suspect #3 is described as a man with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, light-coloured pants, a black and white hat, black shoes and was carrying a bag
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have been in contact with Mulugeta in the early morning hours on Sunday.
