Calgary police say an extensive investigation has led to one man being charged in two 2023 shootings in Calgary.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, just after 4 a.m., officers were called to a home on Abbotsford Drive NE
Officers attended a scene at a home on Abbotsford Drive NE just after 4 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2023, where it was believed multiple suspects broke into the home, assaulted two adults inside before demanding money and other items and leaving the scene.
Police say multiple gunshots were fired as the suspects were leaving, striking neighbouring homes.
The two adults in the home were left with significant injuries following the assault and were taken to hospital.
The next day, Nov. 12, 2023, around 2 a.m., police were called to MacEwan Glen Way NW for reports of a shooting.
At the time, officers thought shots had been fired between two vehicles. Although no injuries were reported, several homes in the area were hit with bullets.
Evidence led police to believe the two events were connected and a man was charged on Dec. 19, 2024.
Forty-six-year-old Brian Timothy Potts was arrested in Edmonton last month and brought back to Calgary where he now faces charges of break and enter to commit robbery, unlawful confinement, two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon knowing it is unauthorized, and three counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 27.
