The Calgary Opera’s production of Don Pasquale has two performances left at the Jubilee Auditorium on Wednesday, Feb. 5 and Friday Feb. 7.
Calgary Opera performs at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
Artistic director Jonathan Brandani says the opera is set in 1950s Italy — an iconic time for Italian filmmaking — and pits actors from silent films against those from the ‘talkies.’
The opera is sung in Italian- but English translations are projected.
Brandani said it’s a perfect first Opera to people that are new to the art because it is a shorter light hearted romantic comedy.
Calgary Opera has also announced it’s offerings for next season, which includes “The Barbe of Seville, Little Red Riding Hood, and Hansel and Gretel.
