An investigation is underway after a northeast Calgary dry cleaning business went up in flames Monday morning.

Calgary Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Cowan says crews were called to a commercial strip mall on Rundlehorn Drive NE around 5:30 a.m. for reports of a fire.

When they arrived, firefighters found flames coming from the front window of the business.

The blaze was extinguished, but caused “extensive” damage to the dry cleaners, and left the units on either side with smoke damage, according to Cowan.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Initial reports indicate the fire was suspicious, police say.
