Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly tried to break into a northwest Calgary residence last month while someone was inside the home.

Calgary police were called to a home on 24 Avenue NW in the community of Mount Pleasant around 3 p.m. on Jan. 25 for reports of an attempted break-in.

Investigators say a victim was inside the house when she got a notification on her phone that someone was at the front door. She did not recognize the person and didn’t open the door.

It is alleged the man started kicking the door and using a sharp object to try to get inside, prompting the victim to run out the back door and call police.

The suspect was not able to get inside and left the area before officers arrived, according to CPS.

Police are looking for a suspect described as 40 to 60 years old with a slim build and grey hair in a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a denim jacket, a navy-blue shirt, dark-coloured pants, sunglasses, and black Nike gloves.

They believe he fled the area in a silver 2006 Ford Escape.
