Woman found dead in SW Calgary, police questioning suspect

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a woman in Calgary’s deep southwest Monday.
Police and EMS were called to Belmont Drive SW following a call for help to 911 around 1:50 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found a woman dead.
One person was taken into custody at the scene and is being questioned, police say.
The incident is believed to be targeted, and there is no risk to the public, according to investigators.
The woman’s death is considered suspicious at this time.
Neighbours say the news of the death is surprising.
“This is the first time I’ve seen a police presence,” one person told CityNews. “This is the very first time.”
Investigators are expected to release more information following an autopsy, which is scheduled for Tuesday.
