Three displaced after SW Calgary townhouse fire

Two townhomes in southwest Calgary are left with significant damage after a fire Tuesday night, but thankfully, no one was hurt.

Crews were called to 35 Avenue SW around 9:15 p.m. for reports of a structure fire.

Firefighters faced significant smoke and flames from the blaze in a two-storey residential townhome.

More resources were called to the scene to make sure the fire could be adequately fought.

Those living in homes neighbouring the fire either self-evacuated or evacuated with the help of first responders, according to the fire department.

Three adults will be displaced for an unknown amount of time as a result.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Calgary Fire is reminding citizens that working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors can save lives and should be tested regularly.
