Murder charge laid after fight at SE Calgary home that left man dead

A man is facing a murder charge after a fight inside a southeast Calgary home that left another man dead.

Emergency crews were called to an apartment building on Legacy Blvd SE in the community of Legacy in the early morning hours on Tuesday for reports of an altercation.

Police say two men were in a fight involving a weapon and one was fatally attacked.

Following an autopsy, investigators have identified the victim as a man in his 60s who is not from Calgary. Police are waiting to release his name until next of kin have been notified.

Calgary resident Stefan Simion Bel, 37, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

The incident is Calgary’s fourth homicide of 2025.
