Alberta RCMP say two people — including one Mountie — have been charged with multiple counts of fraud.

RCMP say the Serious Crimes Branch was alerted to a possible fraud committed by a serving RCMP officer and his wife against the Piikani Resource Development Ltd.

An investigation led to both 42-year-old Grant Shade and 40-year-old Katrina Shade of Pincher Creek being taken into custody.

Both have since been charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000. Cst. Shade was also chargedwith possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000.

RCMP note that Cst. Shade was a member of the Piikani Detachment, serving with the force since 2021, and has been suspended with pay. While his wife was an employee of Piikani Resource Development Ltd.

Both are expected to appear in court on Feb. 18 in Fort Macleod.
