A multi-vehicle crash in Calgary sent five people to hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Calgary police say emergency crews were called around 1:30 p.m. to eastbound Memorial Drive approaching Deerfoot Trail after reports of a collision.

Police say six vehicles were involved. Five people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic in the area was slowed in the afternoon while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

There is no word on what led to the crash.
