Calgary man charged after fleeing stolen truck with two loaded guns

A Calgary man is facing dozens of charges after police say he ran from a stolen truck in the Beltline and was arrested carrying two loaded handguns.
Calgary police say investigators began looking into a stolen Toyota Tundra earlier this month that they believe had been fraudulently re‑vinned. Officers were also searching for the man associated with the truck, who was already wanted on eight warrants.
Police located the Tundra on Friday and attempted a traffic stop somewhere in the Beltline.
The driver fled, but officers found the truck abandoned several blocks away. Minutes later, officers spotted the suspect trying to get into a cab.
Officers arrested him after a short foot chase, with help from the Canine Unit.
Police say the man was carrying a Mac11 9‑mm semi‑automatic pistol, a snub‑nose revolver and a suppressor. A search of the truck also uncovered small amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine, 15 handgun receivers, five additional suppressors, 13 high‑capacity magazines and several fraudulent identification cards.
Investigators believe the two handguns were purchased in Texas and smuggled into Canada.
Jeremy Sauve, 41, of Calgary, is charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest, 17 counts of breaching a firearms prohibition, multiple weapons‑related offences, drug possession, breaching release orders and possessing stolen property over $5,000. His outstanding warrants include obstruction, failing to appear in court, and escaping lawful custody.
Sauve remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in September. Police say the investigation is ongoing and more charges may be added.
