Fire destroys roof of NW Calgary home

A Tuesday night fire has left a northwest Calgary home destroyed and a family temporarily displaced.
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says the blaze began around 8:30 p.m. on Hidden Springs Close NW in the community of Hidden Valley.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the home, according to CFD spokesperson Alex Kwan.
Kwan says the fire likely started outside the back of the property before extending into the attic. Firefighters attacked the flames from outside and were able to bring it under control.
Some neighbouring homes sustained exterior damage, but the fire was otherwise contained to the original property. The roof of the affected home was destroyed.
All occupants were able to escape the house safely and no injuries were reported.
Kwan says there is no evidence the fire was intentionally set, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
