Police identify victim in fatal weekend shooting

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary police have identified the victim from a fatal weekend shooting in the city’s southeast.

Just before 10 p.m. officers were called to the community of Forest Lawn after reports of shots being fired.

Upon arrival, police found a man in his 30s in medical distress. Despite the efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene.

That man has now been identified as Jesse Shaye Troy George, 30.

Police believe the shooting was targeted and the shooter was known by George.

“This shooting happened on a very busy road in our city and it is likely that someone has information that could help solve this case” says Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit in a release. “People may have unknowingly witnessed something or may even have dashcam footage that could be useful to investigators.”

Specifically, police are looking for anyone who may have been travelling near Memorial Dr. and 52 St. S.E., on Saturday, Mar. 27, from 9:30-10:30 p.m., and may have dashcam footage.
