Fuel truck fire shuts down parts of Highway 93 South

A fuel truck flipped onto its side and burst into flames west of the city on Wednesday night, shutting down a busy highway.
According to RCMP, the incident occurred on Highway 93 South on the B.C. side of the border approaching Marble Canyon.
No word yet on any victims but STARS was called out around 9 p.m. to the Banff area but no word on whether it’s related.

One caller to the newsroom said they felt the intense heat as they passed by the scene and was concerned about a potential forest fire risk but said emergency crews were on scene.
No word yet on a cause.
511 Alberta says the highway is completely closed from Castle Junction to Vermilion Crossing and will remain in place until around 9 a.m.

A detour has been set up on Highway 1 according to Drive BC.
