Traffic was disrupted for several hours in Calgary’s southeast Wednesday morning after a cement mixing truck caught on fire.
Calgary police say it happened around 6:50 a.m. on Glenmore Trail and Deerfoot Trail SE.
The driver tried to get out and extinguish the fire, but it was too large, according to Calgary Fire Department spokesperson Carol Henke.
Henke says the cause of the fire was due to catastrophic engine failure.
Initial reports indicate the bridge didn’t sustain any damage. No injuries were reported.
As a result, westbound Glenmore Trail SE was reduced to one lane at the bridge with Deerfoot Trail SE for nearly five hours.
