After being snubbed for the NHL’s “Winter Classic” last year, Calgary could be in line for the big game next year.
There will be two outdoor games next year and Commissioner Gary Bettman says one of them could be played at McMahon Stadium and would likely be against the Vancouver Canucks.
Sportsnet’s Mark Spector tells 660News the game will probably be played in February.
“That’s traditionally when Hockey Day in Canada runs, it’s always a three game deal with the six Canadian teams, and I’d assume it’d be the early game at one o’clock,” says Spector.
The announcement came at the end of the board of governor’s meeting in Pebble Beach.
The event has become very popular in the U.S., where it always features two American teams.
