Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign wraps up

The Salvation Army is reporting they’ll raise about one million dollars this year through their annual Kettle Campaign.

That’s short of their goal of $1.2 million, but the campaign also brought about the advent of donating through text messages.

Salvation Army spokesperson Captain Pam Goodyear tells 660News 1,200 people donated to the campaign through their cell phones.

Each text represents a $5 donation, and Goodyear says texting will likely become a mainstay of the Salvation Army’s efforts year-round.
