Fire destroys house in De Winton

It was a Christmas surprise no one wanted.

A massive fire completely destroyed a home just south of Calgary early yesterday morning.

The fire broke out about 6:30 a.m. after two residents left to spend time in Saskatchewan.

The blaze completely consumed the single level home, as well as the attached garage.

Frantic neighbours called 911 as the flames shot into the sky, worried that there may still be residents inside. But that wasn’t thecase.

When fire crews arrived shortly after 7 a.m., the home was fully engulfed in flames.

An investigation in to the fire is expected to begin today
