Reawakening for airline industry

The airline industry considers the Christmas Day incident on the Northwest Airlines flight bound for Detroit, to be a rude reawakening.

Former CSIS intelligence officer Michel Juneau-Katsuya tells CTV News, authorities will have to wrack their brains to figure out how they can prevent a similar attack from happening.

He adds there’s concern there could be a “copycat” who may try to do the same thing. That may mean all authorities will have to reinforce security screening procedures.

Katsuya says new technology will have to be implemented at airports, something he says will cost millions of dollars and deliver a harsh financial blow to the industry.
