Fatal Automobile Crashes Down in 2009

Although fatal car crashes were down for 2009, when it comes to drinking and driving, Albertans are still not getting the message.

This from Sgt. Greg Cooper, who tells the Calgary Sun, Albertans are still getting behind the wheel impaired.

Polls show there were 200 more crashes in Alberta in 2009, but fewer of those crashes resulted in deaths.

Between January and October of this year, close to 41,000 crashes occurred, compared to just over 39,000 the previous year.

Cooper says environmental conditions as well as construction played a big factor in many of the accidents.
