Strict new security measures for air travellers between Canada and the U.S. will remain in place into the new year.
Westjet says the new rules will be in place until January 4th, but Air Canada and Jazz don’t give a time line for when the restrictions might be lifted.
You’re only allowed to take a single, small carry on item aboard U.S. flights, after a failed bombing attempt on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit Christmas day.
Those items include a purse, diaper bag or laptop computer.
Air Canada is waiving excess baggage charges for people who have to check in more luggage.
You can find out more about what carry on items are allowed by going to the Transport Canada website http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/mediaroom/backgrounders-menu-5781.htm
