New Year’s warning from police chief:

Checkstops will be set up across the city New Year’s Eve, with police targetting impaired drivers.
Chief Rick Hanson tells 660News, there is no valid excuse for anyone to climb behind the wheel after having a few drinks.
“There is no reason. No reason. Not in this day and age,” he says. “If you drink and drive we are going to be out there looking for you, our efforts will be to catch you and put you in jail before you kill somebody.”
Hanson also has a message for those putting on the parties. “Don’t let your guests drive home drunk,” he advises. “Line up a designated driver, call a cab or let them sleep over.”
