A repatriation ceremony will be held Sunday for five Canadians killed in Afghanistan this week.
The bodies of four Canadian soldiers and Calgary Herald reporter Michelle Lang will arrive at CFB Trenton around noon Calgary time.
Military analyst and journalist Mercedes Stephenson tells 660News, Lang’s writing was not just appreciated by ordinary Canadians at home, but was also vital, respected and valued by the soldiers whose stories she was covering.
Stephenson adds that too often reporters focus on the deaths of soldiers, without telling the story of what the troops were actually doing to make life better for regular Afghans.
