The Olympic torch hasn’t even arrived in Calgary yet and already there’s a change in plans.
According to the Calgary Herald, it’s courtesy of a Crescent Heights resident who noticed the original route released this week contained a stretch of 1st Street northeast.
The problem is a 25-metre long sinkhole developed on that thoroughfare in November, next to the city’s new $54-million emergency operations centre.
Vancouver 2010 has already altered the route.
It might not be the last time the relay team sends an advance team to each community four days before the torch hits town to work out any new snags or developments.
The torch run in Calgary is scheduled for January 19th.
