He’s known for his ‘bull dog’ style, but new Energy Minister Ron Liepert may have to become more of a poodle in his new job.
Liepert, and most of the Calgary contingent of Premier Ed Stelmach’s new cabinet met the media this afternoon, with the new energy minister getting the bulk of the questions.
He’s hoping to thaw out the frosty relationship between the province and Calgary’s oil executives.
Liepert admits he has a lot of listening and learning to do, and a lot of that has to be done before the province unveils the findings of its ongoing competitiveness review.
Liepert says those findings won’t please everyone, but a balance has to be struck.
He also says not all of the problems in the energy industry can be laid at the feet of government.
