Three NHL sized ice sheets at Canada Olympic Park will open sooner than expected.

They were supposed to be done at the end of next year, but they’ll now be open at the end of 2010.

The completion of the $225-million project ahead of schedule is welcome news to the president of Hockey Calgary.

Perry Cavanagh tells The Calgary Herald, the opening will relieve some of the pressure surrounding the scheduling of games and practices for minor hockey in the city.

The new complex will also become the home of Hockey Canada.
