Teens sought for study on depression

Calgary researchers are looking for 50 teenagers to get involved in a clinical trial on a new treatment for depression.

The Leap Project, funded by Alberta Health Services, is an intervention program for 13 to 18-year-olds.

It’s something they can do at home on their computer.

One of the teens involved in developing the program, Nayely Trujillo, tells 660News the method helped her after the loss of a close family member, her great-grandmother who helped raise her.
“It really impacted my life that someone was missing and they’d never come back.  I really fell into a state of loneliness and sadness.   I didn’t know where to turn or what to do.”

The study is being done by the Canadian Institute of Natural and Integrative Medicine.

For more information you can go to leapproject.org.

To sign up for the study you can call the Leap coordinator 403-220-0022, ext. 222.
