Thousands of people are expected to protest the suspension of parliament across the country today, including here in Calgary.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s decision to prorogue the government has cost him in the polls as the Tories continue to slide in the minds of some Canadians.
Political science professor Tom Flanagan tells the Calgary Herald, the Tories have suffered some damage in the short term because of proroguing parliament.
He adds that the government lost at least five points in the polls, a direct result of the move.
The group Calgarians Against Proroguing Parliament will meet today at 1 o’clock outside of Stephen Harper’s riding office.
It’s located at 1600, 90th Avenue SW.
