A new report that indicates health care wait times are getting worse not better has renewed the debate on the need to overhaul the system.
Some believe the solution is to create a two-tiered system that allows both public and private options.
The president of a right wing think tank believes the answer is simple.
Brett Skinner with the Fraser Institute tells 660News it’s time we look outside our borders for some of the cures needed for health care.
Skinner says other countries that also have universal health care rely on user fees. He says they also allow parallel private health insurance and competition for publicly-funded services.
He says those options are not radical and the sooner provinces like Alberta adopt them, the sooner sustainability can be restored to health care funding.
