City hall protest rules comeback before council

Rules about who can protest at city hall and what those protests can look like will be in front of aldermen this week.

Aldermen saw the rules once last fall but weren’t happy with them and sent them back to administration for more work.

The proposals will be back before council on Wednesday.

The requirement for people to book a protest in advance was one of the most contentious issues in last year’s proposal. Alderman Ric McIver tells the Calgary Sun, booking protests is not the way things work in a democratic country.
