A flurry of angry calls for improved snow removal has the city set to unveil an interim plan to deal with winter road woes.
The plan is supposed to address the immediate snow removal needs of Calgarians and will be released by the roads department sometime today.
The focus for this latest band-aid solution is believed to be on putting more graders, sanders and plows on the road for at least the rest of the current winter season.
Ward 11 Alderman Brian Pincott says the plan is a temporary solution that should get us through until an audit of Calgary’s snow removal budget is completed next winter.
Alderman Ray Jones tells the Calgary Sun, he saw the rough draft of the plan and noticed there was nothing in it about kicking in some help for residential roads.
He says he made some comments on the rough draft and he hopes they took his suggestions to heart.
Alderman Ric McIver agrees with Jones and tells 660News the real problem is when Calgarians can’t get out of their community to make their way to work. He hopes the side streets aren’t ignored again this time around.
