Nurses union warns of worker exodus

The union that represents nurses in Alberta is scared the province isn’t doing enough to hold onto them.

The United Nurses of Alberta president says the province’s hiring freeze for RN’s could force a number to head south, and they’re not in a position to retain nursing grads either.

Heather Smith adds they will have to wait for February 9th’s budget before they know the full extent of the governments plans for nurses.

The Calgary Sun reports, our country will be short 66-thousand registered nurses by 2022.
