Trade winds continue blowing through Calgary

The much rumoured trade between the Calgary Flames and New York Rangers is official.

The Flames have shipped out forwards Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust to the Big Apple for forwards Christopher Higgins and Ales Kotalik.

There were reports the trade was originally held up because Calgary wanted both Jokinen and Prust in Tuesday night’s 3-0 loss to Philadelphia. There were also reports that Kotalik was not interested in waiving his no-trade clause to come to Calgary.

The trade comes a day after the Flames shipped Dion Phaneuf, Fredrik Sjostrom and prospect Keith Aulie to Toronto in exchange for Matt Stajan, Ian White, Niklas Hagman and Jamal Mayers.
