Premier doesn’t tip his hand on budget

Premier Ed Stelmach is talking about next week’s budget, but he’s not giving much away.

He tells 660News, as announced in yesterday’s throne speech, the province will dip into the sustainability fund again.

“The sustainability fund will help cushion the very dramatic drop in revenue. But I will tell you that there are some very positive signs that the economy is coming back, and we’re going to build on that. That’s why our goal is to be the most innovative and competitive jurisdiction in North America,” the premier says.

Stelmach adds a “competitiveness” review launched by the government should be completed by late February.
