A scare on the SAIT campus in the city’s northwest Friday after reports of a radiation leak.
CTV reports officials at the school were notified about the leak from an old electrical transformer being moved to a scrap metal yard.
Radioactive material was detected inside by a sensor in the truck transporting the object.
Emergency crews traced the leak back to a building on SAIT’s campus.
Hazardous materials teams tested the area and found trace amounts of radioactive material at the site.
But they say because the amounts were so small, there’s no danger to the public and it should clear up on its own.
