Olympic games to be a financial bust?

A poll on the upcoming winter Olympics suggests most Canadians think the event will be a financial bust.

84 per cent of those polled for the Canadian Press-Harris-Decima indicated the games will finish in the red.

The skepticism was strongest in BC where 90 per cent indicated the Olympics will be a money-loser.

The opinion might be sparked by memories of the overrun 1976 Olympics in Montreal.

But one analyst notes the 1988 Olympics here in Calgary did well financially.
