Weekend hit-and-run not gang related

Calgary police say they do not believe the alleged hit and run that occurred early Saturday morning in the southeast was gang related.

But police chief Rick Hanson says it was a standard part of the investigation process and they can’t rule anything out.

A disturbance between two groups erupted in a restaurant, then moved out into the parking lot.  That’s when one person involved got into his vehicle and drove through the group.

Police have charged 19-year-old Trung Nguyen with numerous impaired driving offences.

The victims were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
