Women who have died from violence and abuse will be honoured by families and friends at a memorial march Sunday.
This is the second year for the event in Calgary and hundreds are expected to take part in remembering the missing and murdered women.
Spokesperson Suzanne Dsuz tells 660News, February 14th has traditionally been a day of recognition and the event will offer women love, honour and respect.
The other goal of the march is to raise awareness about violence against women and Dsuz encourages and invites all men to participate in the walk as well.
The March for Missing and Murdered Women of Calgary and Southern Alberta will begin at 1:30 p.m. It starts and ends at Scarboro United Church – 134 Scarboro Avenue S.W.
The event started nearly 20 years ago in Vancouver and is now held in several Canadian cities on Valentine’s Day.
