Family Day

A good bet for Family Day is always Heritage Park or the Calgary Zoo — both of which are offering new attractions.    The zoo has ‘Dinosaurs Alive’ which features 20 new dinos that move and roar.

Canada Olympic Park is always a hit, especially when the weather is nice, like it’s forecast to be this Family Day.

There’s always skating, skiing or tobogganing but you might also consider doing something entirely different — like taking in a play or going to a comedy club.

The Telus World of Science is also open on the holiday.

Tourism Calgary President Randy Williams suggests heading to the other side of town so you can see another part of the city you wouldn’t normally.

He also suggests letting the kids come up with some ideas since they always seem to think of things parents don’t.

The City of Calgary, Community and Neighbourhood Services East Area Office has a free family fun skate from 1-3pm at Ernie Starr Arena – 4808, 14 Avenue SE.

Noon to 4pm – the Cardel Place Winter Carnival offers remote control car racing, bouncy houses, entertainment, prizes, skating, magic and more.   Details at cardelplace.com.
